Newest Trailer for “Man Of Steel” looks Super!

man_of_steel_2-620x452

We’ve gotten a few early trailers for the newest Superman installment set to come out next month, and I know a lot of fans have been getting hyped-up, but none of the early trailers sparked my excitement; there was very little plot revealed, nor were there many images of our villain…until now.

Now, we finally have a trailer that gives us a glimpse of who our villain is, his objective, and exactly what Superman is up against…

Between Michael Shannon’s deep, menacing voice – and Hans Zimmer’s inspiring score, this trailer really comes to life and offers us hope as to possibly the most epic superhero film since “Dark Knight”…

What do you think of the trailer?

Michael Shannon Delivers Flawless Performance in “The Iceman”

The-Iceman

While nothing groundbreaking or highly unpredictable, “The Iceman” delivers an overall good film that tells the disturbing true story of hit-man Richard Kuklinski, masterfully portrayed in a flawless effort by the great Michael Shannon…

I’ve read complaints that some say the film feels like a cable biopic, and while the film does have a biopic vibe, it doesn’t feel anything like a overdramatized cable rip-off, or anything.  Michael Shannon’s performance wouldn’t allow for that; when you cast Michael Shannon in anything he’s going to give you a theater-quality performance, so don’t expect anything less here – especially since he is not only featured in the film, but starring in it.  It’s not in Shannon’s DNA to give anything less than 110%…

“Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D” More Comedy Than Horror

tcm

Before we dive into this Farrelly Brothers take on “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” let’s make sure everyone’s up-to-speed on the events that led us here…

Assuming you’ve seen the 1974 original you may remember a few of these images:

texaschainsawmassacre-e1351240855142

A girl screaming and sobbing for her life after being tied to a chair at a dinner table with this family:

Who howl and mock with great delight at her fear of becoming the main course, since this guy previously:

Cut-up her group of friends, who would still in-fact be alive if he had not bludgeoned them with hammers and carved their limbs off.

So, somehow she manages to escape from this group of crazies:

While being chased by this:

Which is where the original left off….and is where the beginning of the 2013-released “Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D” picks up…

We open with the Sheriff coming out to the Sawyer Farmhouse, and demands for the son who has been cuttin’ folk up with a chainsaw, to come out and surrender…

And of course, the father draws his shotgun and says there’s no way he’s going to surrender his son, etc. – to which the Sheriff again demands the boy to come out – to which the father once again refuses…

Zzzzz….

Then, after a couple more moments of pointless shouting between the Sheriff and Father Sawyer, another clan of hillbillies, the Hartman family, pull up in trucks and surround the house…and finally at this point the father agrees to send out his precious little son A.K.A. Leatherface…

But, the Hartman hillbilly clan douse the place with gasoline and set the house on fire and shoot the place up – even against the Sheriff’s orders!  Woah, try to let the tension set in.

And now as we watch the Sawyer farmhouse burn, where Leatherface has cut-up innocent victim after innocent victim while the family either assists him, or turns a blind eye, we are now supposed to feel sympathy for them. LOL.

Would you want to live next door to this?

The Sawyer Family. The corpse in the rocking chair is especially warming.

So, now we advance about 20 years later…

Michael Shannon Recites Angry Sorority Letter

r-MICHAEL-SHANNON-THE-ICEMAN-large570

I’m sure most of you have likely heard thru some form of media about the recent profane-laced, intense, and utterly insane letter that a Maryland sorority girl e-mailed to her sisters of their chapter…

But in case you’re not up-to-speed, apparently a couple weeks ago over at the University of Maryland, the Delta Gamma Sorority President, Rebecca Martinson, sent out a letter of displeasure to her fellow sisters and it went viral…

And we have none-other than the magnificent thespian Michael Shannon to recite the contents of the letter and bring it to life…

If you haven’t already seen this video, check it out; but be warned it contains a ton of profanity – but it is quite hilarious! :)

“Luther” Series On Sale For Great Price!

LUTHER

On “Amazon Instant Video” I just discovered the “Luther” series at a great price and anyone who may not be familiar with the show – or fans of the show who would like to re-watch, should consider buying while the price is so low…

Season 1:   Standard – $6.99 / High Def – $8.99

Season 2: Standard – $3.99 / High Def – $7.99

This is the best crime drama I have ever seen – hands down!  I already bought the DVD’s a while ago, but went ahead and bought the HD versions here for both seasons so I’d have an online copy…

From the opening frame of season 1 until the final frame of season 2 it grabs you and never lets go…

I cannot recommend this enough…

The finale of season 2 has to be the most clever and intense showdown I’ve ever seen on a series, or movie.  THIS is what Hollywood so desperately tries to be, but generally fails at…

Another thing I like about the show is that DCI John Luther doesn’t go out of his way to try to be cool, hip or clever the way Hollywood tries to dress-up so many of their heroes as; he epitomizes all these attributes naturally and effortlessly without it feeling forced. This isn’t Jamie Fox or Will Smith who imitate cool; this isn’t about a cop chasing skirts and whistling at every attractive woman he spots on the street and trying to get his “mack” on, etc. Idris Elba has no need to try to be cool. He simply is cool. No effort needed. He doesn’t have to dress all “fly” and strut around like he’s God’s gift to the world. He doesn’t need to threaten criminals; he’s just coming for them.  No words necessary.

I am not sure how long this series will be at this price, but do yourself a favor and get it.   Just trust me!

Here is a teaser trailer:  (I don’t recommend watching many clips of this series before watching the shows b/c some of the clips give away certain twists and information)

Now what?

New Ryan Gosling Movie: “Only God Forgives” Trailer

onyl-god-forgives-poster

Ryan Gosling is back with “Drive” director Nicolas Winding Refn to bring some more stylized and brutal violence to the big screen in “Only God Forgives” set to come out this summer July 19th…

“Drive” was definitely one of those films I wish I had seen at the theater. When I originally saw the ads on TV I thought it looked like a lame action flick, and I was not aware of how great a movie it was. I underestimated Ryan Gosling in an action role, and I was not familiar with Refn’s work…

But now that I know better I will be sure not to make the same mistake twice…

Here’s the trailer:

What do you think of the trailer?  Are you going to see this at the theater?

"The Hidden Face" Was Like Nothing I've Ever Seen

First off: DO NOT WATCH THE TRAILER AHEAD OF TIME!!!!!

I do not know WHY they cut a trailer where they give the twist away, but they totally do - and if I had known the twist going in then I would not have been floored the way I was...

Secondly: since I didn't know the twist in advance I was thrown for a loop; what a GENIUS turn-of-events that I in no-way, shape, or form saw coming in the slightest.

Okay, I wrote this back before I had a single follower, so hardly anyone has read this entry. Just trust me, you need to watch this movie! It is one of my all-time favorites and I am growing increasingly frustrated that this film has went so unnoticed. I am telling the entire movie blog community THIS is a film that deserves to be watched and reviewed! Love it, or hate it, it deserves recognition. Please stop passing this one over and give a watch and if you feel motivated then write a review that will help create awareness on your blog. This is a film that should not be so unfamiliar to the masses, and needs to be introduced to any of those who enjoy an interesting twist. But as I state throughout the entry, do not watch the trailer b/c it reveals the twist. I really, really, really would appreciate it if any of my followers would give this one a chance. Thanks!
